Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers that look like your own teeth, only better

When your eye goes straight to a tooth that is discolored, misshapen or undersized, porcelain veneers can quietly correct it. Veneers at Uptown Dentistry are planned around your face, your bite and the look you want, under the personalized care of Dr. Nicki Tajalli.

What veneers are

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain bonded to the front of your teeth. Porcelain has a color and translucence that closely matches natural enamel, so a well-made veneer reflects light the way a real tooth does.

What veneers can correct

Veneers are used to close spaces and gaps, cover stained or yellowed teeth that whitening cannot lift, even out teeth that are too long, too short or misshapen, mask slightly crooked teeth, and restore chipped or worn edges.

One tooth or a full smile

Some patients need a single veneer to match a neighboring tooth. Others choose six to ten for a complete smile makeover. We plan the shade and shape with you first, so there are no surprises on the day they are placed.

The process

After a consultation and digital records, the teeth are gently prepared and a temporary set protects them while your custom veneers are crafted. At the final visit we check the fit, color and bite before bonding them in place.

Caring for veneers

Brush and floss as usual, keep your regular cleanings, and wear a night guard if you grind. With good care, porcelain veneers commonly last 10 to 15 years or longer.

Common questions

Do veneers look fake?

Not when they are planned well. We choose a shade and shape that suit your face rather than an overly bright, uniform look.

Are veneers permanent?

A small amount of enamel is usually reshaped, so veneers are considered a long-term commitment and are replaced rather than removed.
