Calm, caring help when something hurts
Dental emergencies are stressful, and they rarely happen at a convenient time. If you are in pain, have broken a tooth or notice swelling, call Uptown Dentistry at (713) 963-9191. Our team will listen, help you understand what is happening and guide you to the right next step.

Common dental emergencies
We help patients with severe toothaches, cracked or broken teeth, lost fillings and crowns, knocked-out teeth, swelling in the face or gums, and pain after previous dental work. Many problems that feel alarming are very treatable when addressed promptly.
What to do right away
For a knocked-out tooth, hold it by the crown, rinse gently and keep it in milk, then call immediately. For a broken tooth, rinse with warm water and use a cold compress for swelling. For a toothache, floss gently to remove trapped food and avoid placing aspirin against the gums.
When to go to the ER
Swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, high fever or uncontrolled bleeding after an injury needs a hospital emergency room first. We can follow up on the dental side once you are safe.
Relief and a lasting fix
Our first goal is to get you comfortable. Then we explain what caused the problem and the options for repairing it, whether that is a filling, crown, root canal or replacement, so you can make a thoughtful decision rather than a rushed one.
Preventing the next emergency
Regular exams catch cracks, decay and failing restorations before they become painful. A nightguard for grinding and a sports guard for active kids prevent many of the injuries we see.
